STARS Celebration

The STARS Celebration is a full-day event for college students and faculty who are interested in becoming leaders that take action to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion in computing

The conference provides training, tools, and resources that make it easier for faculty and students to design and implement projects that aim to broaden participation of underrepresented groups and are tailored to take advantage of local resources and to address local needs. The conference includes sessions on selecting and adopting effective BPC practices, how-to workshops for equitable and inclusive K-12 computing outreach; student-focused sessions on technical and professional skills, undergraduate research,  graduate school, and career opportunities. In addition, the conference includes faculty-focused sessions on BPC research, inclusive pedagogies, supporting undergraduate research, and career advancement. The Celebration also includes a poster session highlighting STARS computing research, outreach, and service projects.

Held in conjunction with the ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing conference, the STARS Celebration is open to STARS members as well as newcomers who are interested in learning about how to take action and connect to national resources for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in computing

IEEE RESPECT

The IEEE STCBP Conference for Research on Equity and Sustained Participation in Engineering, Computing, and Technology (RESPECT) has become an important interdisciplinary scholarly venue and academic community for BPC research.

Conference proceedings of peer-reviewed articles are submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore and the ACM Digital Library. RESPECT has a history of partnerships to bring communities of researchers together, partnering with the RPPforCS community to promote effective CS for All research-practice partnerships and with the ECEP Alliance to amplify efforts for BPC in rural communities. The conference is typically co-located with the SIGCSE Symposium in March.
